Survivor Series is still about a month away (Nov. 20), but that hasn’t stopped the SmackDown team from beginning to assemble their teams for their brand war against Raw that is set to happen at the Air Canada Center in Toronto at the pay-per-view.
Tonight (Oct. 25, 2016), Daniel Bryan said he’d set up some matches to start putting the teams together. And that he did.
The first was a qualifying match to determine one of the tag teams for the tag Survivor Series team. The Hype Bros defeated the Ascension to be added to the team. It was also announced that since they are the SmackDown tag team champions, Heath Slater and Rhyno are automatically on the team as well.

In the other qualifying match, Nikki Bella faced Natalya. The winner would be SmackDown women’s team captain while the other wouldn’t get to be on the team at all. (That’s some questionable team building by Mr. Bryan right there leaving someone he thinks is good enough to be a captain off the team entirely.) Using her new submission finish, Nikki Bella tapped Natalya to earn that spot.
The men’s group is still wide open with no actions yet taken by the SmackDown brand in regards to that team.
